Saint Louis Area Mental Health Resources

When facing their children’s mental health needs, parents or caretakers typically struggle with knowing where to start.  I have encountered many families in the Saint Louis Children’s Hospital emergency room who are looking for support as well as a better understanding of how to seek out mental health treatment for their children. 

To address this common need, I have compiled a list of resources in the Greater St. Louis Area community.  The list also includes some national links for further information.  As we add to this resource list for families, we welcome any comments.

St. Louis Area Mental Health Resources for Children and Adolescents

The SPOT: (Supporting Positive Opportunities for Teens) http://thespot.wustl.edu/  is a comprehensive youth center  that partners with youth to deliver medical and social services to St. Louis area 13-24 year olds at no cost for numerous treatments including substance abuse.

St. John's Mercy Behavioral Health offers free confidential evaluations for anyone needing assistance with a psychiatric, behavioral or addictive disorder (24hrs a day).

Takes children 13+ by appointment, referral from St. Anthony's ER, or for emergency walk-ins 24 hour a day.

Centerpointe offers emergency evaluations, 24 hours a day, for people ages 4+.

Depaul offers emergency evaluations 24 hours a day for children 6-17 years old.  Does not accept Cigna, Illinois Medicaid or Missouri Alliance.

Gateway offers emergency evaluations 24 hours a day for children ages 5+.  Does not accept Value Options or Cigna.
